Introduction aux Comparatifs
Définitions de Base
Un comparatif est une forme grammaticale qui permet de comparer deux personnes, objets ou idées. En anglais, les comparatifs permettent d'exprimer qu'un élément est plus grand, meilleur, plus rapide, etc. qu'un autre.
Utilise "as...as" pour montrer que deux éléments sont égaux.
Exemple : John is as tall as Peter.
Utilise "-er" ou "more" pour montrer qu'un élément est supérieur.
Exemple : Mary is taller than John.
Utilise "less...than" ou "not as...as" pour montrer qu'un élément est inférieur.
Exemple : Tom is less intelligent than his brother.
Adjectifs Réguliers
Formation des Comparatifs
Ajoutez "-er" à la fin de l'adjectif.
Exemples : tall → taller, big → bigger, fast → faster
Structure : S + V + adjective + er + than + noun/pronoun
Changez le -y en -i et ajoutez -er.
Exemples : happy → happier, easy → easier, busy → busier
Dupliquez la dernière consonne et ajoutez -er.
Exemples : big → bigger, hot → hotter, thin → thinner
Paul is taller than his brother.
This movie is funnier than the previous one.
She runs faster than me.

Formation avec "More"
Utilisez "more" avant l'adjectif.
Exemples : beautiful → more beautiful, interesting → more interesting, difficult → more difficult
Structure : S + V + more + adjective + than + noun/pronoun
Utilisez toujours "more" même s'ils ont seulement deux syllabes.
Exemples : careful → more careful, famous → more famous, dangerous → more dangerous
Certains adjectifs courts ont des formes comparatives irrégulières.
Exemples : good → better, bad → worse, far → farther/further
Paris is more beautiful than Rome.
This book is more interesting than the other one.
She is more intelligent than her sister.

Formation des Adverbes Comparatifs
Utilisez "more" avant l'adverbe.
Exemples : carefully → more carefully, quickly → more quickly, slowly → more slowly
Structure : S + V + more + adverb + than + noun/pronoun
Ajoutez "-er" à la fin de l'adverbe.
Exemples : fast → faster, early → earlier, hard → harder
Certains adverbes ont des formes comparatives irrégulières.
Exemples : well → better, badly → worse, far → farther/further

Cas Particuliers
Exceptions et Cas Spéciaux
Certains adjectifs à deux syllabes peuvent prendre -er OU more.
Exemples : clever → cleverer/more clever, quiet → quieter/more quiet, simple → simpler/more simple
En général, -er est plus courant pour les adjectifs familiers.
Utilisez "more" pour les adjectifs composés.
Exemples : more good-looking, more long-lasting, more easy-going
Utilisez "more" pour les deux types.
Exemples : more interested/more interesting, more excited/more exciting
